Well here we go again. Did Amazon take over the world? No they didn't.
Like I have commented in the past about Costco, they are taking the appropriate moves to counteract Amazon's influence. You always have to consider the secondary effects of any action by a competitor. I think it is Howard Marks who says the secondary effect is often not given appropriate weight.
Costco is growing and thriving because of their three prong approach. They take care of their employees, their customers and their shareholders. That is a win/win situation as you can see by recent huge sales gains. Now with profits clearly beating expectations by a good margin, Costco's strategy is clear.
Take the long view of quality companies who are doing things right for customers, employees and shareholders. You will be surprised at what happens when all interests are aligned!
