MacKenzie Scott gave 6 Billion of her wealth away. The interesting thing is that unlike most wealthy donors she gave to many organizations that seldom receive such large donations, like community colleges.
Scott signed the "Giving Pledge" in 2019 even before she received the Amazon stock from her divorce. The giving pledge is a promise that many billionaires have agreed to to give away the bulk of their wealth.
In her May 2019 pledge she wrote:
"We each come by the gifts we have to offer by an infinite series of influences and lucky breaks we can never fully understand. In addition, to whatever assets life has nurtured in me, I have a disproportionate amount of money to share."
