This is actually funny to me.
How often are people wary of a new technology? Answer - Every single time!
With every technological innovation, people are always concerned. Remember when PC's came in and replaced the IBM Selectric typewriter (You remember that don't you?!). When was the last time you saw a typewriter? Really! I am sure people were on edge when the first cars came in to replace the horse. But, could you imagine where we would be at today without a car!
The fact is that people are creatures of habit. This causes many to push back whenever something new is introduced. I have re-engineered many processes in my career and the initial reaction is ALWAYS to push back against the change. Invariably, when the solution is implemented, those who pushed back become great advocates of the new technology (Assuming it is done correctly and it reduces their burden.).
The autonomous car is no different.
I recently saw another article that McKinsey had studied the adoption of autonomous cars. In the article, they basically told us what we already should know. It was like McKinsey found a long lost civilization. Do we really need some fancy consulting firm to tell us that! Come on.
It is simple. People will push back and complain. Then... they'll adapt. In the end, we'll all be better for it.
