My favorite quote from Jigoro Kano.

Jigoro Kano was the founder of Judo in 1882.  He had practiced many forms of Jujitsu prior to developing Judo.  Kano was a very educated man who taught university students during the day and Judo at night. He was also the first Asian member of the International Olympic Committee.

Kano’s objective in the development of Judo was two fold:

  • "maximum efficiency with minimum effort"
  • "mutual welfare and benefit"

While he has been attributed for many quotes, my favorite is just below.  I found it applicable to many areas of my own pursuits.  To him, I am indebted.  Domo arigato!

"Face your fear, empty yourself, trust your own voice, let go of control, have faith in outcomes, connect with a larger purpose, derive meaning from the struggle."

Be smart, be well-read, be aware and be successful
