Not everything that can be counted...

Not everything that can be counted counts. Not everything that counts can be counted.

This quote was framed behind Albert Einstein's desk at Princeton.

While Einstein's life was defined by theorems and proofs, he clearly believed that everything was not quantifiable - an interesting viewpoint of a man who lived and breathed science.

Many fields of endeavor, such as business, medicine and investment analysis, have this quality.  That said, skillful practitioners apply some art and some science in their search of excellence.

Be smart, be well-read, be aware and be successful.
