There only was one and will only be one Muhammad Ali

While now exclusively shown on pay channels, I remember, as a kid, that boxing was frequently shown on regular TV.   As a result, many more people watched the great matches between iconic boxers- Ali, Forman, Frazer, etc.

Ali was a very animated character with his rhymes (“Float like a butterfly. Sting like a bee!”)  and his "in your face" approach to his opponents. He had a unique personal style that drew attention to him in a positive light.  When being interviewed for various fights, Ali often teased sports announcer Howard Cosell in a jovial manner.

Ali was impeccably confident while some would call it cocky.  Fortunately, he was in the unique position to back up what he said most of the time.  His style, smile and accessibly ingratiated Ali to many fans.

Muhammad Ali was also a devout Muslim who always was helping others.  All one had to do was ask and he would provide his last dime.

His epitaph reads "Service to others is the rent you pay for your room in heaven." So true.
