I have never been too proud to do my own work from investing, finance, auto work, plumbing, HVAC or whatever. With each job, you learn so much more and are able to keep money in your own pocket.
Yesterday, I was at Walmart and wanted to change the oil in my car. I always get Walmart's brand of oil called SuperTech. Oil is rated by the American petroleum institute and has a specific grade. I have never had an issue with oil and I have been changing my oil for about 36 years.
Now I realize some are wed to a brand or type (synthetic) and that's OK. I just don't see a real difference.
Anyway, the isle was totally stocked with all brands except the SuperTech. I ask the manager who tells me that each time they stock it. they are cleared out of SuperTech immediately and this has been going on for a while.
Someone's EOQ (estimated ordering quantity) is clearly off. Too much shelf space used on slow moving product and not enough on high demand product. Someone needs to be looking at this kind of thing. And, if it is happening with this product, it is probably widespread.
Walmart has changed since Sam Walton passed and management with boots on the ground is clearly needed. Higher up's simply talking to their department managers would uncover these issues.
