Costco reported today. They are striding ahead of their retailing competitors.
Here are the highlights:
- Sales are picking up steam and increasing their exponential growth.
- Their gross margin percentage is down which is causing slower GM growth, but the absolute value is still moving well ahead. Not passing on increased goods costs is helping Costco to steal their competitors' customers as the competition raises their prices to pass on increased costs.
- Their operating margin percentage and their operating margin absolute amount is moving up.
- They have decreased their LTD % consistently for six years.
- Most importantly, their EPS is booming ahead.
I like Costco. They are proving that doing the right things for customers, employees and shareholders CAN benefit all. It doesn't have to be a zero sum game!
Be smart, be well-read, be aware and be successful.
