My best investment returns are always on...

My best investment returns are always on stocks that I bought several years before they blossomed.  They were also out of favor or unrecognized at the time of the purchase.  Ross Stores was that way in the early 1990's.   Nvidia, Costco and Applied Materials were like that in the 2010 time frame.

Most people can't wait for their returns to come to fruition.  That impatience causes many to get much less on their returns than they should.

Remember, it takes time for any company to build a strategy and execute.  I haven't seen a company yet that did this is a week, a month, a year or several years.  Those unicorns don't exist!  Don't fool yourself.

Everything has to have time to grow and develop.  Think of a farmer growing corn.  They don't plant corn seeds and expect it to become ears of corn the next day.  You would think they were nuts if anyone believed that, but with stocks, people somehow believe there are some "magic beans" that produce results almost instantaneously.

Like with raising kids, patience is essential.

So plant your seeds with a realistic eye to the future.  You’ll be surprised how well they can grow if given a sensible time frame.  In the meantime, keep a close eye on the company’s fundamental financial metrics, relax and let time take its course.

Be smart, be well-read, be aware and be successful.
