Why do many investors often think they are not subject to the law of the farm?

Just as a farmer has to plan and cultivate the soil well in advance to benefit from a growing season, an investor needs to plan and cultivate investment ideas to benefit in the future. Sure, you can invest today and, by luck, sometimes have a bountiful return tomorrow.  All too often that is a strategy rife with pitfalls.  It is like waiting for your numbers to come up for your lottery ticket!

Those who carefully planted their investment "seeds" in 2009, 2010 and 2011 are now reaping their harvest. Are you a farmer or playing the lottery?
